How these figures are verified
Every figure on this page was read directly from Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat collective agreement pay tables on canada.ca, not estimated or carried over from a prior year. Because each classification group negotiates its own agreement, the “current” rate line lands on a different calendar date per group — always the latest signed economic increase or wage adjustment published for that group as of this page’s last update.
This is a curated selection of six commonly searched groups, not every federal classification. Treasury Board publishes rates for dozens more — use the full classification index to find a group not listed here.
Frequently asked questions
Are Government of Canada pay rates public?
Yes. Treasury Board publishes classification pay ranges and steps in each collective agreement, and the rates below are drawn directly from those published tables. This page shows the classification pay scale, not any individual employee’s actual earnings.
Why do the groups on this page have different effective dates?
Each classification group is covered by its own collective agreement, negotiated on its own timeline. CR, AS and PM last updated June 21, 2024; EC moved to June 22, 2025; IT to December 22, 2024; and FI (CT-FIN) to November 7, 2025. A newer agreement for any group can add a later rate line at any time.
What is the difference between AS and PM?
AS (Administrative Services) and PM (Programme Administration) are both part of the Program and Administrative Services (PA) group and share identical rates through level 5. They diverge at levels 6 and 7, where PM tops out higher than AS.
What is FI / CT-FIN?
FI (Financial Management) was folded into the Comptrollership (CT) group’s CT-FIN sub-group after a 2023 classification conversion. Job postings and pay tables now generally label these levels CT-FIN-01 through CT-FIN-04, though "FI" remains the common short form.
Does this include allowances, overtime or acting pay?
No. These are base annual salary ranges only. Bilingual bonus, overtime, shift premiums, acting pay and other allowances are separate and vary by role, so actual gross pay can be higher than the range shown.
