If both parents live in Quebec, this calculator does not apply.
Quebec has its own child support determination model (a different, income-shares-style formula using both parents' disposable income), which applies whenever both parents reside in Quebec. The result below is the federal Table amount, which only applies when the federal Guidelines govern -- for example, a divorce case where the other parent lives outside Quebec. For a Quebec-Quebec case, use the Quebec government's own Child Support Payments Calculation Tool instead. We do not implement the Quebec model on this site.

1How it works: The Federal Child Support Tables (Guidelines s.3, Schedule I) set a monthly amount based on the paying parent's province or territory of residence, their annual income, and the number of children. Each table is built from $1,000 income bands with a basic amount plus a percentage applied to the income above that band's floor -- the same method used here. Above $150,000, Guidelines s.4 applies and a court has discretion over the amount on the excess. This is the base table amount only -- it does not include add-ons for section 7 special or extraordinary expenses (childcare, medical, extracurricular, post-secondary), shared-custody adjustments, or undue-hardship claims.
If both parents live in Quebec, this federal table does not apply
Quebec is unique: when both parents reside in Quebec, Quebec's own child support determination model governs, not the Federal Child Support Tables. The Quebec model uses both parents' disposable income, parenting time and certain add-on expenses via a mandatory determination form — a materially different calculation from the federal table above.
The federal Quebec table (used above) applies only when the federal Guidelines govern — typically a divorce case where the other parent lives outside Quebec. For a Quebec-Quebec case, use the Quebec government's own tool. We have not implemented the Quebec model on this site.

Frequently asked questions
How much is child support for 1 child in Quebec?
Under the Federal Child Support Tables effective October 1, 2025, a paying parent in Quebec earning $70,000 a year owes $642/month for 1 child. The amount below $16,000 of income is $0 -- that is the table's income floor for Quebec.
How is the Quebec child support table calculated?
The table is built from $1,000 income bands. Support = the band's basic amount + (the band's percentage x the portion of income above the band's floor). Quebec has its own table because the federal formula factors in provincial income tax rates -- the same income produces a different amount in a different province.
Does Quebec use the federal table, or its own?
Only when the federal Guidelines apply -- for example, a divorce case where the other parent lives outside Quebec. When both parents live in Quebec, Quebec's own child support determination model applies instead, using both parents' disposable income rather than just the paying parent's. See the Quebec section below.
What if income is over $150,000 in Quebec?
Guidelines section 4 applies. By default, the Quebec table amount at $150,000 is extended using the province's own percentage on the income above $150,000 (shown in the calculator above). A court can order a different amount for the excess instead, based on the children's needs and each parent's means.
